Cheburaksha Doll Making Workshop
A great opportunity for participants to expand their cultural horizons and learn about Russian traditional arts and culture making their own Cheburashka doll!
Cheburashka is a cute character from a famous Russian children’s movie and is a Russian icon. Similar to Micky Mouse, he is very famous around the world and is a part of almost every Russian-speaking persons’ childhood. During this workshop, students will make their own doll with step-by-step instruction on how to sew and assemble the doll. Students will also learn about the signifigance of Cheburashka in Russian history, film, and culture.

Nesting Doll Making
This workshop is a fun, lively, creative and relaxed experience, which can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, regardless of this artistic skill. The classic Russian Matryoshka is a set of wooden dolls of the same shape but different sizes which are placed inside one another. It may seem like these nesting dolls have been around forever but in fact the first Matryoshka doll was made only in 1890. It was pained to look like a young girl in a peasant dress holding a black chicken. The artist will show you the traditional Matryoshka decoration, which you can either copy or take inspiration from to create your own unique design.

Faberge Egg Making
The workshop is open to the whole family: adults, teens, and children ages 6 and up. Learn about the folk tradition of Russian Faberge egg painting and the techniques. During the workshop, participants will learn how to paint their own Faberge egg. Everyone leaves the workshop having painted their. beautiful pieces of collectible folk art on wood.
